I said, &#8216;Oh, the crustimony proceedcake.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s from <em>Winnie the Pooh<\/em>. They didn&#8217;t get it.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the story: Winnie-the-Pooh has discovered that The Old Grey Donkey, Eeyore, has lost his tail. (Here I am following the capitalization of Mr Milne.) So he goes to see Owl. As Pooh says, &#8216;. . . if anyone knows anything about anything it&#8217;s Owl who knows something about something . . .&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>At Owl&#8217;s house, Pooh asks him what to do. Now Milne:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8216;Well,&#8217; said Owl, &#8216;the customary procedure in such cases is as follows.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;What does Crustimony Proceedcake mean?&#8217; said Pooh. &#8216;For I am a Bear of Very Little Brain, and long words Bother me.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It means the Thing to Do.&#8217;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>My copy of <em>Winnie-the-Pooh<\/em> is inscribed with my name and the date, 1955, in my father&#8217;s hand.
