It was another place I had been to in 1982 and also in 1976 with the Blue Saints.<\/p>\n<p>The AltStadt along the Neckar River with the huge castle dominating above is a natural for tourists, and we did all the usual things. We parked, walked along the river to the Alte Br\u00fccke . . .<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-880\" src=\"http:\/\/thezachproject.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9515-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/thezachproject.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9515-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/thezachproject.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9515-1024x683.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/thezachproject.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9515-400x267.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>. . . and thence into the Old Town.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-881\" src=\"http:\/\/thezachproject.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9517-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/thezachproject.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9517-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/thezachproject.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9517-1024x683.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/thezachproject.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9517-400x267.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From there it was up more stairs &#8211; Mary never let us forget how many steps there were at the Cologne Cathedral: 533! &#8211; to the Schloss. We walked around the lovely gardens and toured the interior.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-883\" src=\"http:\/\/thezachproject.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9540-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/thezachproject.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9540-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/thezachproject.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9540-1024x683.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/thezachproject.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9540-400x267.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The interior featured a German Pharmacy museum and the world&#8217;s largest wine cask. After descending we had lunch at Vetter im Schoneck. Established 1987. Really. I checked the coaster twice. Vetter&#8217;s is the home of the world&#8217;s strongest beer: 33% alcohol! Actually, Wilfried told us that figure is from an intermediate stage. The finished brew is 10.5%, strong enough for me to take a miss. We had Bavarian meatloaf which was more like Spam than not.<\/p>\n<p>On our way home, we passed the entrance to the tunnel Deutsche Bahn is building for the IC trains under Rastatt.
